As a child, I hated to get up early in the morning and rush some sugary cereal down my throat as my mother forced me to put something in my stomach before I ran to school. I guess it was about half a bowl: my start to the day!
Oh no, is that how each day of my life is going to begin? I'm sure many of you know exactly what I'm talking about. Please, let me tell you: THAT is probably the most important aspect of your daily routine you must change to be healthier.
If you have a gasoline powered car, imagine how long it would be running if you fed it with Diesel, or if you didn't put any gas in at all?
What would happen to your washing machine and your laundry if you put in bleach instead of appropriate laundry detergent?
The point: You must supply your body with the right fuel to power you through all the activities in a day. How and what you feed your body must become a habit, a relationship through which you show trust, confidence, and support in your body and mind.
The better the energy supply, the more power you'll have!
Always start off your day with a healthy breakfast: nothing that will slow down your blood, nothing that will give you stomach aches.
1) You MUST eat something for breakfast. (The emphasis is on MUST, and not on "something")
2) Your breakfast should be diverse, just as diversified financial portfolio for investors.
Cover all the demands your body and mind have as the motors are starting to warm up in the morning, especially if you're off to go to work. "You are what you eat." Sounds cliche, but still so true.
Here are three suggestions to start a change in your breakfast meal:
1) Get your Protein: No, this doesn't mean you must buy 5lbs of that powder you saw in the store. It means you should make yourself 2 eggs, or throw in some nuts into your cereal. Also, drink some milk or eat a yoghurt
2) Veggies: This may be the weirdest idea to most people, but I've started a habit to include veggies in all my meals; that means, I need to have some veggies in the morning: Usually, I cut up a tomato eat with my eggs, or I lay aside some spinach and carrots to eat with the omelette. What if you are eating cereal, though? Well, I suggest you make a smoothie: Some spinach, kale, and avocado, mixed with vanilla protein powder and milk will provide you with the minerals and vitamins that only vegetables can provide.
3) Carbs! Yes, carbs! Your body's primary energy source are carbohydrates: if you don't eat them, you don't have sufficient energy for demanding tasks, such as work or exercise.
You could eat a multi-grain/whole-grain cereal, and even better, you could eat natural carbs through some healthy fruits: I suggest strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, apple, and banana.
